Born and raised in Crawley, just over 60 years ago, Alison Cornell has been married for 40 years and has two grown up children.
Alison qualified as a Nurse in the early 1980s working as a Theatre Sister first in London then at the East Surrey Hospital, later moving on to work in Community Nursing and health politics. In the late 1990s, through her trade union, Alison was involved in briefing front bench teams and select committees on School Nursing which led on to ten years as a Westminster Research Assistant working for Laura Moffatt MP.
Alison has also served as a West Sussex school governor for 17 years and for three years as a Non-Executive Director at Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust. She is now retired and is a listening volunteer with The Samaritans of Horsham and Crawley.
