Crawley Growth Programme: Station Gateway Public Realm and Highway Works

The Crawley Growth Programme is a key delivery mechanism to achieve the economic growth outcomes agreed in the Crawley Growth Deal. The programme is supported by financial allocations from the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), West Sussex County Council (WSCC) and Crawley Borough Council (CBC).

A WSCC decision in December 2017 (OKD03(17/18)) agreed funding allocations and delivery governance for the projects within the programme. The delivery governance identifies that projects within the programme are to be delivered by both WSCC and CBC. Improvements at the Station Gateway in Crawley were a key project identified and approved as part of the decision taken in December 2017.  The Station Gateway improvements remain a key project within the Crawley Growth Programme but, it is proposed that the governance route be altered to enable CBC to take the contractual lead role in terms of procurement and delivery.

WSCC will continue to influence the project through representation on the Station Gateway Programme Board and the Crawley Growth Board that oversees the delivery of all projects within the Programme. Ensuring that appropriate highway designs and materials are secured for areas of highway for which WSCC will be responsible in the future will be achieved through the S278 process.
