This report concerns the award of contract for roadside infrastructure improvements to include bus shelters, bus stop improvements and improved bus network information across West Sussex to support the delivery of the County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
In April 2022, the Department for Transport (DfT) awarded West Sussex County Council (WSCC) c. £17.4m to deliver some of the ambitions in its Bus Services Improvement Plan (BSIP). The BSIP grant is available until 30 September 2025 for capital funding and 31 March 2026 for revenue funding, by when the ambitions will have to be delivered.
In January 2023, the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport approved a Bus Services Improvement Plan/Enhanced Partnership Spending Plan.
To support delivery of the projects identified in the BSIP spend plan, a joint procurement exercise was undertaken in January 2023 with East Sussex County Council (ESCC) as the lead procuring authority.
