Members and officers must declare any pecuniary or personalinterest in any business on the agenda. At its meeting in March 2025, the Governance Committee considered proposals arising from a review of the Council’s governance arrangements. Some proposals were agreed for implementation, whilst others required further assessment and engagement prior to review by the Committee. This report sets out further information on these outstanding proposals so that the Committee can determine any next steps and conclude its review of the Council’s governance arrangements.

The Committee is asked to approve an approach to the consideration of options for democratic accountability for inclusion in the business case for a unitary council proposal for West Sussex.

To receive the regular report on the work of the Group, member development activities and member training and development priorities and plans including an overview of activities undertaken in 2024/25 as well as plans for 2025/26.

The next meeting of the Committee will be held at 2.15 pm on 16 June 2025 at County Hall, Chichester. Members are invited to discuss and agree plans for the business of future meetings of the Committee. Planned agenda items include:
