Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee School (QE2) in Horsham is a Special School serving the area of Horsham and the north of county, providing education placements for children with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
In March 2023 the then Cabinet Member for Learning and Skills approved the budget required to enable the phased establishment of a satellite site to Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee school (QE2) to provide additional pupil places (decision LS11 (22/23)refers). The County Council’s Multi-Disciplinary Consultant have been appointed to undertake the full design of a new site at Arun House, a building located less than 2 miles from QE2 school.
The new accommodation will provide up to 60 additional places increasing the current schools capacity for 15-19 year olds, from the current 120 to 180 planned places.
A procurement process has been undertaken and this report seeks the approval of the Assistant Director (Property and Assets) to award the construction works contract for the establishment of the satellite site to QE2 School.
The Assistant Director (Property and Assets) has approved the award of the construction contract to Fowler Building Contractors Ltd for the delivery of the satellite site for Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee School at Arun House for the value of £2,250,278.68.
June 2024 Update
Following this decision the procurement has subsequently been abandoned. A new tender process will take place to secure a building contractor to undertake the works. Further details can be seen in the new Forward Plan entry
