Purpose:
The timely recovery of income due to the authority is essential to the council’s policy to maximise its income streams. Under-recovery of income against a budget will result in a budgetary pressure. Steps continue to be taken to ensure that monies owed to the council is pursued in a timely and efficient manner. Legal Services have explored all available avenues to recover the debts set out in the report and there are no further alternative options to consider.
Decision:
The Cabinet Member has given approval to the writing-off of 15 debts, each exceeding £15,000, totalling £460,734 as set out in Appendix A and detailed in the body of the report (restricted for members only).
