The County Council has a statutory duty to provide sufficient school places for all children who need a place. This report seeks approval for the allocation of capital funding from the Basic Need Capital Programme to undertake an expansion project to provide a new school hall at Nyewood CE Junior School that will provide sufficient and suitable accommodation for the previous increase in pupil numbers from 75 to 90 pupils in each year group.
The Cabinet Member for Education and Skills has:-
(1) Approved the allocation of £1.193m from the Basic Need Capital Programme to complete the design services, and to fund the construction works and the completion of a procurement process for the delivery of works at Nyewood CE Junior School as detailed in paragraphs 2.1 and 4.3 of the report.
(2) Delegated authority to award and enter into the contract for carrying out the works detailed in the report to the Executive Director Economy, Infrastructure and Environment.
