Purpose:

West Sussex County Council has a statutory duty of care under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to dispose of waste it produces at its premises, this includes a duty to undertake recycling. To meet this duty of care, waste and recycling collection arrangements are in place for sites provided under a framework contract that expires on 30 September 2021.

 

A tender process, which was started in April 2021 to ensure that the County Council continued to meet its statutory duty, is now complete.

 

 

Decision:

The Director of Environment and Public Protection has approved the award of the collection contract for recycling and general waste from West Sussex County Council Schools and Corporate Estate Buildings to Chichester District Council for Lots 2 and 3 and The Recycling Partnership Ltd for Lots 1, 4, 5 and 6 for a period of three years, with the possibility to extend by a further period or periods of up to 2 years as set out in section 2 of the report.
