Purpose:
The County Council has a statutory duty to provide sufficient school places for all children who need a place. This report seeks approval for the allocation of capital funding from the Basic Need Capital Programme to undertake an expansion project at Bourne Community College that will provide 150 additional school places for secondary aged pupils from September 2019, to meet the demand of growing pupil numbers in the Southbourne locality.
Decision:
The Cabinet Member for Education and Skills has:-
(1) Approved the allocation of £3.674m from the Basic Need Capital Programme and £0.246m of Section 106 funds to complete the design services, and to fund the expansion works and the completion of a procurement process for the delivery of works at Bourne Community College as detailed in paragraphs 2.2, 4.3 and 4.4 of the report.
(2) Delegated authority to award the contract for carrying out the works detailed in the report to the Executive Director Economy, Infrastructure and Environment.
